AI Settings
AI behavior in Codex is guided by the project system message and project settings. Good AI settings make suggestions more consistent with your translation style, terminology, audience, and review expectations.
Where AI Settings Appear
You may see AI setup in two places:
- Import wizard: When source content is imported for the first time, Codex may ask for or generate the project system message.
- Main Menu > Copilot Settings: Use this later to review or adjust AI settings.
What To Include
A useful system message should describe:
- Translation style, such as formal, natural, literal, or oral.
- Audience, such as children, church readers, subtitle viewers, or study-note readers.
- Domain, such as scripture, devotional media, educational content, or localization.
- Terms that should stay consistent.
- Formatting or HTML expectations.
- Things the AI should avoid.
AI Behavior Controls
Depending on the current release, Copilot Settings can include controls such as:
- Using only validated examples.
- Allowing HTML in AI predictions.
- Speech-to-text endpoint settings.
- Regenerating or editing the system message.
If suggestions differ between teammates, have everyone sync, close the project, reopen it, and confirm they are using the same project settings and Codex version.
Improving Suggestions Over Time
AI improves when the project contains good examples. Review suggestions, correct them, and validate approved cells. For large changes in style or terminology, update the system message before running batch translation.
